2 Word Final Project This project is worth 50 points and constitutes a large portion of your grade You will have class time to do the Word portion but you should do your design and write the text portions at home.

3 Standards This assessment covers the following standards: NETS-S Standard 1 – Creativity and Innovation Standard 1a – Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products or processes. Standard 1b - Create original works as a means of personal or group expression NETS-S Standard 3 – Research in Information Fluency Standard 3b – Locate, Organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize and ethically use information from a variety of sources NETS-S Standard 4 – Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making Standard 4b – Plan and manage activities to develop a solution or complete a project. NETS-S Standard 6 – Technology Operations and Concepts. Standard 6b – Select and use applications effectively and productively Common Core - Writing Standards for Literacy Standard 4 – Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization and style are appropriate to the task, purpose and audience.

4 Word Final Project You will design a travel brochure. A brochure is a 2-sided piece of paper folded in thirds.

5 Word Final Project Pick a place you have been or would like to go. Do some research on the internet about: How to get there Things to do Places to stay How much things cost Etc. Find a couple of pictures of the locations

6 Word Final Project Your brochure must contain the following: 1. At least 2 pictures 2. At least 1 clip art drawing 3. At least 1 table Your table must have either a row or column where some cells are merged. 4. At least 2 text boxes (from the drawing menu) with text in them

7 Word Final Project 5. Paragraphs – describing the location, the attractions, etc. 6. Section headings to divide up the document (i.e. use the style dropdown to select Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.) 7. At least 3 Fonts – and 2 Font styles (Bold, Italics, Underlined)

9 Word Final Project How to start: The easiest way to start is to use a template. Find a Brochure template. DO NOT USE THE TEMPLATE “Travel Brochure.” It is 4- column and not 3-column Look at the layout on slide 2 and design a Front Cover and Inside Flap. The Front Cover should be a title and maybe a picture and very little text. The Inside Flap should make us want to go there. The Inside Left/Center/Right have the details of the location. Your name, period and the date must be included on the “Back” (the middle part of page 1)

10 Note!!! Due by the end of class on Wednesday October 30 th. If not turned by that time it will not be in your quarter grades. Extra Credit (10 points) if turned in by the end of class on Tuesday October 29 th. Plagiarism is not allowed – This must be in your words! I will check!
