2 Basics A net is a two-dimensional figure that can be folded to make a closed three-dimensional shape There are no overlapping sides and no gaps in the figure

3 Examples Let’s take a look at the net below. What shape do you think will be made once this net is folded?

4 Examples It helps to make this net using graph paper and follow along. Use graph paper to construct the net below. Make each block 4 squares by 4 squares on the graph paper.

24 Common Nets Here are a few space shapes that are commonly made into nets. Tetrahedron – has four triangular faces Dodecahedron – has twelve pentagonal faces Icosahedron – has twenty triangular faces
