6. In the language of the Yucatec Maya: Chichen Itza means "at the mouth of the well of the Itza." It was a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya civilization. Chichen Itza was a major focal point in the northern Maya lowlands from the Late Classic (c.600–900 AD) through the Terminal Classic (c.800–900) and into the early portion of the Early Postclassic period (c.900–1200). The site exhibits a range of architectural styles, reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico and of the Puuc and Chenes styles of the northern Maya lowlands.

The ruins of Chichen Itza are federal property. The land under the monuments had been privately-owned until 29 March 2010, when it was purchased by the state of Yucatán. Chichen Itza is one of the most visited archaeological sites in Mexico; an estimated 1.2 million tourists visit the ruins every year.

28. Clothing collage project Using magazine cut outs and computer generated images you are going create a collage of clothing. You should include items you want, need, don’t want and don’t need. You will present this information orally to the class with just the visual to guide you. You cannot use note cards, the only assistance you have is from the pictures on your paper. You may arrange your pictures in any way you would like. You must include 4 wants, 4 needs, 2 don’t wants and 2 don’t needs in your presentation. Going above and beyond is always a plus!
