The quest for food security is the common thread that links the different challenges with a view to building a sustainable future. Eradicating hunger and improving human nutrition, creating sustainable food consumption and production systems, and building more inclusive and effective management of agricultural and food systems are fundamental and at the heart of achieving sustainable natural resources management with both healthier people and healthier ecosystems.

The PCEA church anticipated to work across its five regions in different ways to ensure Environmental Stewardship. The proposed intervention project was in line with the 19 th General Assembly (G.A) of the P.C.E.A which set up a sub-committee on Environmental Stewardship to address Environmental Concerns in the country. The implementation of the project end results anticipated were a transformed population, farmlands, economic status and an improved environment for better health and economic growth.

1.FARMING GOD’S WAY APPROACH Farming God’s Way is a concept adapted from conservation agriculture where the attempt is made to make the land produce so as to have increased yields without destroying soil integrity. It has to do with conserving the micro organisms in the soil and retaining water by such practices as mulching and also checking the soil erosion by terracing and retaining plant residue after crop harvest. Crop rotation is practise3d so as to reduce diseases and check the spread of pest in a natural way. Sol fertility is thereby enhanced by the mulch and manure making the land more productive. It encourages agro forestry as some tree species fix nitrogen adding fertility to the soil resulting in increased yields. Water harvesting and green energy are also encouraged in order to reduce the negative impact on the environment. Traditional. Traditional farming depletes soil fertility and subjects the soil to wind and water erosion thereby reducing its capacity to support high yields.

2..VARIOUS ACTIVITIES : The training has targeted school children, and farmers through such interventions as here below: K.O.E.E (tool kits: a. pry schs, b.abe) trainers manual; c. 7.sermon outlines/liturgy?), Arocha Kenya continued to build the capacity of the TOTs in such aspects as :biodiversity conservation, tree planting (indigenous varieties), composting, eco-tourism alongside income generation from conservation of habitat. 3.IMPACT IT IS HAVING ON FARMERS Many farmers have taken up the planting of trees targeting the indigenous variety especially those that face extinction. There is also attention given to growing of fruit trees. The church has set aside the second week in the month of May as a tree planting week in the entire church. It is also church policy that wherever and whenever there is a church ceremony trees will be planted as memorials for the occasions. More farmers are keeping and rearing good quality livestock including bee keeping, fish farming and rabbit keeping among others, in an effort to boost food security People have begun to harvest rain water from the roofs their houses. Use of sustainable energy- energy saving Jikos (Stoves) is also on the increase. There is a growing concern for environmental cleanliness and awareness in the campaign against pollution
