2. President Wilson Wilson created the “Fourteen Points” to declare American war aims Germany desired a peace based on President Wilson’s Fourteen Points 1.) No More Secret Alliances 2.) Freedom of the seas in peace and war 3.) No Trade Barriers 4.) Maximum Disarmament 5.) No More European Colonies 6.) German evacuation of Russian territory 7.) Evacuation and restoration of Belgium 8.) Evacuation and restoration of French territory, including Alsace-Lorraine; 9.) Readjustment of Italian borders; 10.) Autonomy for the peoples of Austria-Hungary; 11.) Evacuation and restoration of territory to Serbia, Montenegro, and Romania, granting of seaports to Serbia 12.) Self-determination for non-Turkish peoples 13.) An independent Poland 14.) Creation of a general association of nations -In addition to the Fourteen Points, the US demanded that the Kaiser abdicated England and France rejected Wilson’s proposals and intended on “punishing” Germany

3. Fourteen Points Speech Wilson sincerely hoped the Fourteen Points outlined in his speech would form the basis of a better post-war world at upon the conclusion of "the culminating and final war for human liberty.“ It is the principle of justice to all peoples and nationalities, and their right to live on equal terms of liberty and safety with one another, whether they be strong or weak. “All the peoples of the world are in effect partners in this interest, and for our own part we see very clearly that unless justice be done to others it will not be done to us.” -All of the countries that are willing to be apart of this partnership, are all claiming that they are in favor of peace and justice, and that you have to give justice, to receive it. “For such arrangements and covenants we are willing to fight and to continue to fight until they are achieved; but only because we wish the right to prevail and desire a just and stable peace such as can be secured only by removing the chief provocations to war, which this program does remove.” -The fourteen points, if followed, will prevent war.

4. Speech on the League “It is not merely a settlement with Germany; it is a readjustment of those great injustices with underlie the whole structure of European and Asiatic society.” “The men who sat around that table in Paris knew that the time had come when people were no longer going to consent to live under masters, but were going to live the lives that they chose themselves, to live under such governments as they chose themselves to erect. That is the fundamental principle of this great settlement.” “Don’t you remember that we laid down fourteen points which should contain the principles of the settlement? They were not my points. In every one of them I was conscientiously trying to read the thought of the people in the Unites States, and after I uttered those points I had every assurance given me that could be given that they did not speak the moral judgment of the United States and not my single judgment.”

5. Woodrow &The League of Nations “In order to promote international co-operation and to achieve international peace and security by the acceptance of obligations not to resort to war, by the firm establishment of the understandings of international law as the actual rule of conduct among Governments, and by the maintenance of justice and a scrupulous respect for all treaty obligations in the dealings of organized peoples with one another.” –Covenant of the League of Nations Woodrow Wilson was a President in favor of peace and neutrality, war was always an absolute LAST resort. Wilson states that the League of Nations is more beneficial for protection against war for a nation, than having no protection at all, leaving one at complete risk for anything to happen to a nation.
