Function The nourishment of the body’s cells is dependant on the relationship between the digestive system and the cardiovascular system. Oral Cavity Lips/Labia: muscular folds covered by mucosa (internally) and stratified squamous (externally). Each quadrant has 1 central and 1 lateral incisor, 1 canine, 1 st and 2 nd premolars or bicuspids, and 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd molars (wisdom teeth). Upper Alimentary Canal Oropharynx follows the oral cavity and leads to the laryngopharynx. This leads to the esophagus which is accompanied by mucous glands. Large Intestine The cecum is the proximal end of the large intestine that extends inferiorly to form the appendix (lymphatic tissue).
