Parents Meeting 2006 The Future of UT Football

AGENDA ► 1. Background ► 2.Philosophy of coaching ► 3. Vision for UT football

PHILOSOPHY OF COACHING ► “Do it right, do it hard, or do it over.” ► Play hard, have fun, be physical ► Do not waste time ► Organized ► No excuses ► Be consistent-praise immediately-correct immediately.

MY BIGGEST MISTAKES IN COACHING ► I used to say" don't listen to how I say it, but what I am saying.” ► Now-I know how I say it is more important. ► 2 nd biggest mistake ► Taking it out on those who do the right things. ► Mad at those not present, but telling those that were present!

WHAT I HAVE ALSO LEARNED ► It is more important to coach the kid than X’s and O’s. ► Coaches are easily replaceable. ► Kids are not. ► I really, really, really enjoying seeing deserving kids succeed. ► You can win without having the most points ► on the scoreboard
