STANDING WAVES AND DIFFRACTION
2
STANDING WAVES 2
3
Is caused by the constant constructive and destructive interference of two waves traveling towards each other 3

DIFFRACTION Def’n- Waves can ‘bend’ in a rather unusual way when they reach the edge of an object The amount of diffraction ('spreading' or 'bending' of the wave) depends on the wavelength and the size of the object 6
7
DIFFRACTION White light can diffract and be separated into its different colours It is also how we can see a lunar eclipse, the sun’s light rays bend around the moon allowing us to still see it occuring 7
