2. Principle of Operation: Non Mixing Liquids/ solids separate based on their Density difference under gravity. Rate of separation is dependent on the residence time provided and on the laminar nature of the flow. Lower Density liquid/ solid scum floats on the top. Higher density liquid and solids settles down at the bottom.

3. Needs and advantages: Needs: Two different liquids/ solids to be separated. Separation of two liquids/ solids to be continuous. Advantages: Simple, easy and cost effective. Gravity operated and hence no electricity required. Mobile unit: A single unit can be used for a variety of applications. No restriction on type of liquid used. Used for all applications involving separation of two non miscible liquids/ solids with specific density difference.
