What are we testing for? Pavement – twice per year (before & after winter driving season) Smoothness Cracking/Raveling Longevity/Durability Cost/Benefit Noise – monthly as appropriate for 1 st year (reassess frequency w/in the year) Tire/Pavement with Onboard Sound Intensity Resident experience with Wayside/Pass-by Driver experience with in-vehicle meter

What to watch in Washington… Studded tires Ground temperatures for installation of open graded rubberized asphalt Freeze/thaw for trapped water in open graded asphalt Tire pressures on air pockets for open graded asphalt Plugging/vacuuming Heavy traffic wear Changes to water run-off
