4 PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE METHODOLOGIES 1. Reconstruction:  Most intrusive, most expensive, most time- consuming  Improves alignment issues, width, curves, humps, cross section, etc.  Usually requires total storm drainage system  Replaces entire road structure, base and pavement 2. Reclamation:  Grinds existing pavement into existing base  Improves minor alignment issues  Often involves minor drainage improvements  Replaces entire pavement structure

5 PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE METHODOLOGIES 3. Mill & Pave:  Grinds off top pavement surface  Maintains existing alignment  Replaces tops on existing catch basins  Replaces top course of pavement 4. Chip Seal  Maintains entire pavement structure  Adds asphalt seal coat embedded with stone chips 5. Crack Seal:  Maintains entire pavement structure  Seals individual cracks with asphalt material

6 GRAVEL ROAD MAINTENANCE METHODOLOGIES 1. Re-grade Gravel:  Most time-consuming, highest maintenance  Highly susceptible to wash outs  Dust issues  Difficult to maintain in winter 2. Bituminous Base Course & Chip Seal  Provides many benefits of paving while retaining feel and appearance of gravel  Support of Planning Commission & Land Use Office
