Because you want to make a living 1.Both the mean and the median monthly income of VS graduates have increased steadily during the past five years, adding up to a 23.4% and 17.3% increase respectively. In the same period, both the mean and the median monthly income of Lingnan graduates have remained roughly the same. 2.In 2012, the mean income of VS graduates was higher than the mean income of Arts, Lingnan and BBA graduates. …want to make a living (cont’d) 3. The number of Visual Studies graduates having found full-time employment after graduation in 2012 was the highest among all Lingnan programs (only a couple of streams in Business do better). No one was seeking employment at the time of the employment survey. Visual Studies
7
…want to make a living (cont’d) Some plausible explanations are: increased recognition of what Visual Studies stands for a growing visual arts sector (art fairs, auctions, galleries, museums,…). Consequently, 44% of full-time employed graduates found work in the same or a related area upon graduation. Visual Studies

…want to make a living (cont’d) Between 6.1-23.2% of graduates pursue further studies; for example, at Hong Kong University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Central St Martin’s College of Art and Design (London), the University of Kent at Canterbury, Birkbeck College, London, and so on.
