GROWING POPULATION  The GDP of the country must grow at a faster rate than the population of the country to increase standard of living.  The population of the U.S. is growing steadily.  The U.S. accepts more illegal immigrants than any other country in the world. Most of them come from Asia and other Latin American countries.

3. CHANGING POPULATION  80% of Americans are Caucasian, but birthrates of nonwhite Hispanics and African- Americans are increasing.  Because of high birthrates during 1945-1965, also known as the “baby boom”, the population of the people over 55 in the U.S. has increased substantially.  The “baby bust” which is the low birthrate period after the baby boom has caused a shortage of younger workers in the industry.

4. MOVING POPULATION  Many people are moving from the frost belt, which is the colder northern half of the country, to the sunbelt, the warmer southern half of the country.  The continuing movement of people from city to suburbs and north to south has caused unintended consequences.  Many businesses and cities suffer financially and lose high quality services.
