GROWING POPULATION The GDP of the country must grow at a faster rate than the population of the country to increase standard of living. The population of the U.S. is growing steadily. The U.S. accepts more illegal immigrants than any other country in the world. Most of them come from Asia and other Latin American countries.

CHANGING POPULATION 80% of Americans are Caucasian, but birthrates of nonwhite Hispanics and African- Americans are increasing. Because of high birthrates during 1945-1965, also known as the “baby boom”, the population of the people over 55 in the U.S. has increased substantially. The “baby bust” which is the low birthrate period after the baby boom has caused a shortage of younger workers in the industry.

MOVING POPULATION Many people are moving from the frost belt, which is the colder northern half of the country, to the sunbelt, the warmer southern half of the country. The continuing movement of people from city to suburbs and north to south has caused unintended consequences. Many businesses and cities suffer financially and lose high quality services.
