If situation worsens cancel session

HEALTH, SAFETY AND RISK DEALING WITH VIOLENCE Predicting Violence History of violence Emotions Physical Factors Things to look out for Pacing/Fidgeting Clenching fists/jaws “Wild” look in eyes Out of touch with reality Speaking loudly or verbally abusive If you see these behaviours, take immediate steps to reduce the tension before it escalates

HEALTH, SAFETY AND RISK IF AGGRESSION OCCURS Protect yourself If you fall, block attack with feet and legs Break hold- Turn towards thumb Choked- Raise arms and turn Bitten- Push into bite Hair pulled- press down on hands Weapon- Never reach for weapon, encourage person to talk Please ensure that any incidents are reports to the Students’ Union ASAP
