Consequences to Parents Financial - The cost of raising a child is high. - Begins before baby arrives - Prenatal care - Other expenses such as crib, car seat, diapers, clothes, equipment, routine medical examinations etc. - As babies grow, their needs become greater and more costly.

Social - Limited time for leisure activities - May lose friends Physical - Run risks for mother and baby - Stress on the body - More likely to develop unhealthy blood conditions, toxemia and anemia Emotional - Teens are usually not emotionally ready due to pressures and demands from teachers, friends, parents, society, and within.

- May suffer from depression Future/Career - Must change or postpone career plans - Finishing high school or going on to technical school or college can be very difficult

Risks for Children Health - More likely to be premature - Low birth weight Neglect/abuse - Possible due to misplaced/negative emotions and/or immaturity Resources - Family, friends, community, teachers, medical professionals, etc.
