Theodore Roosevelt Ran for reelection in 1904. Initiated the Square Deal, which was a more just and equitable society. Worked to increase the regulatory power of the federal government. He described his foreign policy by saying “speak softly but carry a big stick” Ran as a Republican candidate in 1904.
