The Middle East in the Global Economy Students –Some have A level economics –Some have 1 st year university economics Aims –To provide sufficient understanding of international economics to analyse the role of the Middle East in the global economy –To understand the external and internal contexts in which economic and business decisions are undertaken in the Middle East

The Middle East in the Global Economy Learning outcomes Have a sound conceptual understanding of globalisation processes Analyse the direction and composition of Middle Eastern trade Understand the major theories of oil pricing and their implications

The Middle East in the Global Economy Learning outcomes Undertake country risk appraisals with respect to the Middle East and appreciate how these affect foreign direct investment and portfolio flows Appreciate how religious and cultural values can impact on business decision- making and understand the sensitivities and potential conflicts between the corporate culture of multinational companies and that of the region

The Middle East in the Global Economy Assessment One two-hour examination Two essay questions chosen from six (60%) One summative essay of 4,000 words (40%) Formative assessed essay of 2,500 words
