1. Security System House of Israel Balboa Park October 2, 2014

2.  The House of Israel has been in Balboa Park since 1948, and has had no serious incidents  There has been, however, a long history of mischievous vandalism in the Park which has impacted us  There are times when it is recommended that the Jewish community heighten security measures  It is out of an abundance of caution that HOI installed a state-of-the art alarm and camera system Why an Alarm System?

3.  Our Alarm system contacts our Monitor and the police are dispatched if the alarm is set and:  Glass is broken  Doors or windows are opened  Motion is detected inside the House  Our Camera system records all activity inside and some activity outside the House What does it Mean?

4.  When you enter the HOI, the alarm will be set. When you open the door, you should hear beeping  Keypad is located inside the bathroom  “Armed” light will be red  Enter your 4-digit alarm code  Press “OFF” button (1 on the keypad)  “Armed” light will turn off How to Turn Off Alarm System

6.  When you leave the HOI, close all windows and doors firmly (bathroom door is not alarmed)  Keypad is located inside the bathroom  Keypad screen should read “READY” – if not, double-check that all windows and doors are closed firmly  Enter your 4-digit alarm code  Press “AWAY” button (2 on the keypad)  Alarm will begin beeping. You have two minutes to leave the HOI and lock the door behind you. Turn On Alarm System

8.  In the event of accidental trigger of alarm system  Call one of the 3 contacts and inform them  Helene Held 248 318 5318  Jack Maizel 619 890 2112  Sandy Golden 619 312 7663  If you cannot reach anyone, call Compass security  800 622 1711 Trouble with Alarm System

9.  During open hours, the alarm is off and the doors unsecured  If you need to call the police, there is a ‘panic button’ under the counter  Activate the ‘panic button’ by pressing together the buttons on the front and the back of the block  If there is someone threatening inside the HOI who will not leave, then YOU MUST LEAVE In Case of Emergency

10.  We enjoy pleasant encounters with our visitors and have had no security incidents  The Security system is intended to make you feel safe  Acquaint yourself with our procedures, then…..  Relax and enjoy your time at the House of Israel! Relax and Enjoy!
