CRITICAL AGENDA PROJECT Knowledge Transfer Programme - KTP BACKGROUND OF KTP KTP recognises a broad range of activities to support mutually beneficial collaborations between universities, industries and communities (government agencies/non-government organisations (NGOs)/public sector). It provides the platform for the exchange of tangible and intangible intellectual property, expertise, learning and skills between academia, industry and the community. The forms of interactions may include, consultancy, education, training, graduate development, conferences, sharing of physical facilities and student placements. POLICY KTP Briefing

CRITICAL AGENDA PROJECT Knowledge Transfer Programme - KTP BACKGROUND OF KTP (CONT’D) Public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) should effectively engage with industry and community towards mutually beneficial initiatives through role played by: Academia: able to incorporate relevant and up to date knowledge from industry and the community into their teaching, learning and consultancy activities. Industry : can utilize the resources of IPTAs to enhance their business capability and economic activities Community: can benefit from the knowledge generated in IPTAs to improve quality of life within the community. OBJECTIVE OF KTP GOAL OF KTP Knowledge Transfer Programme - KTP
CRITICAL AGENDA PROJECT Knowledge Transfer Programme - KTP OBJECTIVE OF KTP To recognize and promote the transfer of knowledge via the exchange of creative and innovative ideas, research findings, experiences and skills between IPTA, industries, government agencies and the wider community. GOAL OF KTP To enable the development and improvement of the quality of products, services and policies to be shared for mutual benefits between the stakeholders i.e. academia, industry, community and the graduate/postgraduate intern. CRITICAL AGENDA PROJECT Knowledge Transfer Programme - KTP MODEL OF IMPLEMENTATION KTP shall include the involvement of the following : The project means identified KTP per location/firm/community/ target group. Project may be replicated to other identified KTP project of similar nature but different location/firm/community/target group. The KTP project committee is allowed to vary the provisions of the financial limit after considerations of nature of projects. POLICY Strategic Direction Action Plan
1. Three (3) models that can contribute to the projects related to the 9 National Priority Areas (NPAs): Domains of KTP Programme: Well build innovations in parallel with modernization and sustainability of RMK-11 equal opportunities for partners and constituents in the KTP ecosystem which both locally and regionally developed The infusion of new knowledge/skills is essential for systematic management and organization for achieving the targets of the 9 National Priority Areas 2. Level of implementation of KTP under RMK-11: POLICY

CRITICAL AGENDA PROJECT Knowledge Transfer Programme - KTP Outcome KPI Indicators and output to relate to outcomes: Number of academics involved Number of industry/community partners and collaborations Number of products commercialised Number of technology, skill set or process transferred Number of intern, graduates, trainee (including job placement after the programme) Increase income/revenue of industry/community Increase in capacity of stakeholders Development case study of successful project will be properly documented for future HEIs reference Reengineering economic growth in tandem with aspiration of NEM: Human capacity building, Economic and industrial growth Industry driven knowledge enhancement Increase in graduate employability and placement Increase in productivity and competiveness of the stakeholder’s products and services. Clear agenda on future Science and Technology investment Green Technology will be recommended to address the sustainability issues relevant to the 9 NPAs. Enhancement of the Capacity and Technology of SME which currently constitute more than 95% of the nation’s industries. KTP as platform for development of entrepreneurial and technical skill sets such as to enable community household income below the low income lines to improvise income. Creating and strengthening Industrial R and D by introducing and enforcing relevant laws (South Korean experience can be explored). Replication of successful projects by higher agency to ensure the sustainability of the engagement. POLICY
