Knowledge Business Centre Overview InfoLab21 Structure: Who’s inside... realising the vision Communication Systems and Computing Departments 263 academic staff – one of the largest Research establishments in Europe Recognised nationally and internationally for its contribution to many areas of communications and computing science Strong links to industry and high technology ICT Focus State of the art and accredited Microsoft and Cisco training facilities Knowledge Business Centre 2-way gateway between academia and business Specialist support to aid growth and competitiveness of regional business Collaboration – joint applied research, academic and student placements Incubation facilities for start ups, spin outs and research departments The provision and coordination of funded projects to assist regional enterprise

Knowledge Business Centre Overview ERDF Projects: CLKEI Support to companies: 137 SMEs assisted 104 SMEs supported in developing new products/processes £ 12.96m increased sales 84 new jobs £ 11.7m sales safeguarded 252 jobs safeguarded ICT Cluster established with 40+ companies Over 30 students projects established with Communication Systems Dept A range of projects delivered with a particular focus on e-commerce, database development and promotional CDs One KTP established with Computing Department
