Time Period & Style Romantic Period (1785-1830) Romantic Poetry: poetry is dominated by idealism (the woman is as beautiful as nature) Speak: the poem is very romantic in that he describes this perfect and ideal woman to where she is “above” the rest but is not haughty as described in the second to last line below (A mind at peace with all below).

Theme Although one may not be the conventional or idealized beautiful woman of that time in that she is more dark rather than light, there is simple beauty in the balance of outward appearance and inner beauty and dark in light.
