1. Internship at WBHT-FM Citadel Broadcasting Corporation

2. Citadel radio broadcasting is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company was founded in 1984. Citadel owns and operates 155 FM and 58 AM radio stations in 47 mid-sized markets across 24 states in the U.S.

3. Citadel Broadcasting Corporation Citadel focuses on mid-sized markets because they are less competitive, have fewer signals, and derive most of their revenue from local advertisers. Citadel is the fifth largest broadcasting company in the U.S. based on net broadcasting revenue.

4. Citadel Broadcasting Corporation Citadel has five FM stations and one AM station in the Wilkes-Barre area. I am choosing to intern at their WBHT-FM radio station on 97.1 frequency because it has always been my favorite radio station.

5. WBHT-FM 97 BHT 97 BHT is located at 600 Baltimore Drive right here in Wilkes-Barre. 97 BHT is the number one choice for hit music in northeastern PA. They play 20 hits in a row all day from the biggest artists from pop, rock, hip-hop, and R&B.

6. Target Audience 97 BHT’s largest audience is women from ages 18-49. However, the station targets towards people of all ages

7. Significance in Community 97 BHT attends and helps with community events across northeastern PA. The annual Miracle Makers Radioathon has helped raise money for the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Danville for six years now. BHT has encouraged listeners to donate over $144,000 overall.

8. Internship Position I’m hoping to intern with BHT’s promotions/sales/event-planning department. I expect to help advertise and organize events, and just help with whatever is needed. I’m using this internship as a beginner to obtain a Spring internship with Wachovia Arena’s promotions and events.

9. ¿ Why Me ? This is my first semester as a Mass Communications major and I don’t have much experience besides writing and an introduction to the field. However, I am very eager to work for BHT, I am dedicated and hard-working, and I’m a people person. I have great communication skills, and I am up for any task. I’m creative, and I always have an open mind. I think all of these skills and attributes are very important in this field.

10. What I Need to Improve On I could work on my public speaking and try to stop procrastinating when getting things done. Also, I need to know more about the field. Next semester, I am taking Radio Production, Graphics, and Photography which could all potentially help me while I’m interning.
