2. In English A participle is an adjective formed from a verb. In English, you form the participle of a verb by adding –ed. It often has the same form as the past tense. My flight is confirmed. (participle) I confirmed my flight. (past tense)

3. Past participles describe a noun that has received the action of that verb. To form the past participle of a regular verb, drop the infinitive ending and add –ado to –ar verbs or –ido to an –er or –ir verb.

7. Participial clauses Past participles can also form participial clauses that tell how, when, or why. The agree in gender and number with the noun being referred to. Terminada la gira, regresamos al hotel. Since the tour had ended, we returned to the hotel.

8. More examples Una vez llegadas a San Juan, las chicas se alojaron en el mejor hotel. Once they arrived, the girls stayed at the best hotel. Una vez confirmado el vuelo, empezamos a buscar un hotel. After our flight was confirmed, we began to look for a hotel.
