CHP LASER DAZZLER™ A Portable, Non-Lethal, Eye-Safe, Multi-Purpose Device Effective Both Day and Night 29 Oct 07
4
CHP LASER DAZZLER™ It is the most rugged/powerful/compact laser device available that is suitable for this purpose The CHPLD engages the target in a wall of green laser (532nm) light, which disorients and distracts the subject This is accomplished by overloading the optic nerve rendering the subject nearly sightless for a short period of time – there is no doubt the individual will see the CHPLD, even in bright sunlight at 200 meters 29 Oct 07
5
CHP LASER DAZZLER™ Specifically designed for applications where gaining the instant attention of individuals in varying light conditions including clear, bright sunny days is critical IDEAL FOR CONVOY AND ENTRY CONTROL OPERATIONS Immediate recognition by approaching vehicles or pedestrians which avoids the use of lethal force due to confusion or unseen /unrecognized hand signals 29 Oct 07
6
Drivers approaching a convoy or checkpoint may not see hand signals or realize they are entering a restricted/danger zone CHPLD at 100 yards – bright daylight They cannot fail to see the CHPLD even if distracted by traffic, sunlight, pedestrians, or other activities 29 Oct 07

OTHER USES Mark your position and identify friendly units at long distances Distraction & disruption of hostile groups Counter sniper Block line of sight when approaching target Counter surveillance Mounted on Tripod Front view showing 4 lasers 29 Oct 07

WARNINGS/SAFETY Laser Dazzlers™ are non-lethal devices, HOWEVER, with the potential for permanent eye damage if used improperly the CHPLD should always be TREATED LIKE A LOADED WEAPON DO NOT point this device at any person unless it is operationally required The user is solely responsible for the safe operation of the CHPLD and for adhering to the instructions and warnings provided DO NOT look at the CHPLD thru optical devices such as binoculars or telescopes This device has sufficient energy densities to cause irreversible eye damage and or permanent blindness if used on a subject at close distances or reflected onto a subject’s eyes from a highly reflective surface 29 Oct 07
9
WARNINGS/SAFETY DO NOT use on subjects at distances closer than 20 meters or reflect back on subjects at distances equivalent to 20 meters or closer without the holographic diffuser installed DO NOT use on subjects at distances closer than 3 meters or reflect back on subjects at distances equivalent to 3 meters or closer with the with the holographic diffuser installed The CHPLD is powered by lithium sulfur dioxide primary batteries and are therefore NOT RECHARGEABLE DO NOT attempt to charge the battery pack. Any attempt to do so is dangerous 29 Oct 07

BATTERY REPLACEMENT Unscrew tail module
Install battery positive end first Rotate battery for best fit when installing Check to confirm O-Ring (3) is still in place DO NOT over tighten switch module 29 Oct 07
13
INTERMITTENT BUTTON SWITCH
ON-OFF PUSH BUTTON Push and release to turn on Push and release again to turn off INTERMITTENT BUTTON SWITCH Operate laser by push and release of intermittent button switch 29 Oct 07
14
REMOTE SWITCH TAIL MODULE
This module contains an electronic switch circuit powered by a capacitor which is charged by the battery pack when the laser is OFF INITIAL CHARGE REQUIRES 4 MINUTES The laser can be operated for 45 minutes continuously from the initial charge When the laser is turned off the capacitor is fully charged The cable connectors for this module are male/female pin type Mate each connector Secure by gently rotating the locking collar until it engages the mating part Rotate clockwise approximately 1/8 of a turn to lock in place 29 Oct 07
15
MAKE SAFE WHEN NOT IN USE
Integral On-Off Push Button Switch Module Unscrew ¼ to ½ turn Press button to ensure laser does not fire If necessary unscrew additional ¼ turn increments until laser will not fire Remote Switch Tail Module Disconnect cable connectors DO NOT unscrew module since the capacitor charge may dissipate and the initial charge time (4 minutes) would be required to operate the laser Press button switch to ensure laser does not fire Long Period of Non-use Remove battery pack Reinstall Tail Switch Module to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the device 29 Oct 07
16
DELRIN FIXTURE The laser is provided in the Delrin Fixture and sighted to the red dot reticule scope. An intermittent on/off button is built into the fixture and is armed by connecting the cable on the Tail Module to the mating connector on the Delrin Fixture Secure by gently rotating the locking collar until it engages the mating part Rotate clockwise approximately 1/8 of a turn to lock in place 29 Oct 07
17
DIFFUSER Adding the provided Holographic Diffuser reduces the minimum eye safety distance from 20 meters to only 3 meters Unscrew window module Remove white washer Place diffuser on window Reinstall white nylon washer Reinstall module on device 29 Oct 07
18
CLEANING Remove the laser from the Delrin Fixture Disconnect cable
Remove the Tail Module Loosen the 6-32 set screws Slide the laser forward Make sure not to lose the O-Ring (3) It is not necessary to remove the set screws To reinstall just reverse the process 29 Oct 07
19
CLEANING Window With device front facing down unscrew window module
Remove white nylon washer Turn module over and clean surface underneath The window & O-Ring will drop out Clean window with appropriate cleaner such as Windex® sprayed onto a cloth Reinstall in reverse order Make sure O-Ring (1) is in the groove Make sure O-Ring (2) is still on the laser body CHPLD Wipe with damp cloth and or a cleaner such as Windex® sprayed onto the cloth DO NOT immerse in water or cleaning fluids NO OTHER FIELD DISASSEMBLY OF THE LASER OTHER THAN AS DESCRIBED ABOVE IS PERMITTED. DOING SO WILL DAMAGE THE DEVICE AND VOID THE WARRANTY 29 Oct 07
