(period 7) She feels image is superficial, but also powerful She feels the images created for her job are not really her they are “constructions” of her She is insecure (as are most of her colleagues) She was treated differently because of how she looks (ex. escaping police, she got a dress for free when she had forgotten her wallet) She changed in to modest clothes – she doesn’t want to be seen as “different” just because of her looks Confident, courageous She was “scouted” and she won a “genetic lottery” (slim, tall, white, female) She cares what other people think She had to fake tan for her job For her job, she has to think about how she looks each day Outside of her job she focuses more on the internal She had to grow up quickly – did not have a boyfriend, wore a bikini later
