WHAT WAS THE 19 TH AMENDMENT?  It was a difficult struggle to get the 19 th amendment running  Passed by Congress June 4, 1919  19th amendment guarantees all American women the right to vote.  Beginning in the mid-19th century, several generations of woman suffrage supporters lectured, wrote, marched, lobbied, and practiced civil disobedience to achieve what many Americans considered a radical change of the Constitution.

3. NATIONAL AMERICAN WOMAN SUFFRAGE ASSOCIATION  founded in 1869 and based in New York City  Was founded by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton  the NAWSA gave priority to securing women the right to vote  The National American Woman Suffrage Association represented millions of women and was the parent organization of hundreds of smaller local and state groups.

4. THE PRESIDENTS OF THE NAWSA WERE:  Elizabeth Cady Stanton, 1890-1892  Susan B. Anthony, 1892-1900  Carrie Chapman Catt, 1900-1904  Anna Howard Shaw, 1904-1915  Carrie Chapman Catt, 1915-1947  Caroline McCormick Slade '96, 1947-1951

5. CARRIE CHAPMAN CATT Was born In Wisconsin on January 9, 1859. Was the chair man of the NAWSA Soon became president of the NAWSA Her ill husband caused her to resign in 1904 But after he died she became president in 1915 died on March 9, 1947.

6. ALICE PAUL  Born on January 11, 1885  Dedicated to securing equal rights for all women  She was very wealthy but lived a simple life  broke she left the nawsa in 1914  created the Congressional Union  She died in 1977

7. HOW THE NAWSA ENDED  It ended on August 26, 1920  Women got the full right to vote  It ended by the Senate passing the 19 Amendment

8.  The picture on the left is a picture of all the main women who were a part of the NAWSA  The picture on the right is a meeting or a walk that was happening  All these women made a difference on how women are treated
