3 How a Co-op Course Works o All Co-op courses begin with a 4 week pre-employment unit followed by a placement. o Placements can occur in the morning and/or afternoon. o Students have integration classes on Monday and work from Tuesday - Friday

4 Arts Placements o Local elementary/secondary schools working with Art teachers o Photography studios o The Artstore of Waterloo o Graphic design companies

5 Business Studies Placements o Sunlife and ManuLife o University of Waterloo o Administrative assistants in businesses o CA firms and accounting departments o Advertising companies o Management at retail stores

6 Canadian & World Studies Placements GEOGRAPHY PLACEMENTS o Grand River Conservation Authority o Travel Agencies o Laurel Creek Nature Centre

7 Canadian & World Studies Placements LAW PLACEMENTS o Waterloo Regional Police, RCMP o Grand Valley Institute for Women o Security o Lawyer’s Office o Provincial Courts

14 Military Co-op o Basic Training in the Military provided by the Canadian Armed Forces o Graduates can become members of the Regular Forces. o Some weekend training sessions at a Canadian Armed Forces Base. o $ These are paid training sessions! o Opportunities for summer employment

15 How do I apply for Co-op? 1. Go to the Guidance Office and get an Application Package. 2. Complete the application form and return it to your counsellor. 3. Ask 3 teachers to act as a reference for you. 4. Wait for the interview notice.
