1. MISSION OF DIET DARYAGAN J To provide Academic and Resource support at the grass-roots level for the success of the various strategies and programmes being undertaken in the areas of Elementary and Adult Education ROLE OF DIET DIETs are viewed as key institutions for upgradation of the quality of elementary education in the district. The New Education Policy envisaged one DIET in every district.

2. DIET DaryaGanj which caters the Central district is placed in the historical building. During the British rule it was used to be Irwin Hospital having VIP wards. Later on it became a first Teacher Training Institute (T T I). In 1975 Nursery Teacher Training course of two years duration for women was started at this building. On the recommendations of 1986 policy, this T TI was upgraded as DIET under the Administrative control of SCERT, Delhi in July 1994 as a centrally sponsored scheme of Govt. of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development. m
