5 Fees & Finances Costs of university: Average = $19,000 - $21,000 for a student living away from home Average = $ 10,000 - $12,000 for a student living at home How can students pay for everything?

7 Fees & Finances OSAP provides: Approx. $8,000 (maximum – living at home) OSAP expects: $2,000 from summer work $2,000 from PT work during the school year* (U. of T. Work Study) Total = approx. $12,000  You could be fine……..

8 Fees & Finances OSAP provides: $12,000 (maximum – living away from home) OSAP expects: $2,000 from summer work $2,000 from PT work during the school year* (U. of T. Work Study) Total = approx. $16,000  You still need $4,000……..(to get to $20,000)

10 Fees & Finances What should we/students be doing now?  Talking about finances  Completing a budget for the year  Filling out the OSAP application-osap.gov.on.ca  Completing the MSFAA for OSAP direct deposit  Print from the OSAP website  Submit at a Canada Post outlet

11 Fees & Finances Fees deadline! For payment or deferral August 20 th

12 Fees & Finances Payments are made at any Canadian bank  1 st installment is 65% of fees for the year (approx. $4500)  Service charges begins Nov. 15 th Deferrals are done online on ROSI (OSAP) or at the Registrar’s Office (Scholarships)

13 Important Dates July 30 th - Course selection August 20 th – Registration deadline September 10 th - Classes start September 22 nd - Last day to determine FT/PT status/fees

14 FT vs. PT Status FT = enrolled in 3.0 + credits for the year PT = enrolled in 0.5 – 2.5 credits for the year How course load is calculated (See Timetable for more info) : F + Y courses (as of Sep. 22) + S courses (as of Jan. 19) = course load count 3.0+ Program fee 0.5-2.5 Per course fees
