My Dog Ate My Homework I am going to read aloud a story about a boy who has many adventures while trying to get back his lost homework. Have you ever heard the excuse “the dog ate my homework” (usually it is a made-up excuse, but in this story it turns out to be true)

Comprehension How does the boy first lose his homework?
Who is the first person to help the boy? What happens after the boy rows out to the boat? Why does each person help the boy when he asks for help?

Event Map PB pg. 48 Pages 94-95 Wendell and Floyd are at the principal’s office. Then Mona enters and says Mona leans so far into the bin that only her feet are showing. A moment later, The boys The children see a sign to the Hat Room, so they follow a passageway to The children come to a hallway lined with doors. Finally, Mona opens one last door and finds she wants to look in the Lost and Found for her lucky hat. Pages 96 she disappears. Pages 98-99 climb into the Lost and Found bin to find Mona. Pages 102 a cave, a lake, a suit of armor, and a boat. Pages the Hat Room.

Inflected Endings -ed and –ing are endings that can be added to base words. They usually appear at the end of verbs (action words). The –ed ending usually means the action happened in the past. The –ing ending usually means the action is happening in the present. When a base word ends with a vowel and a consonant , double the consonant. flip=flipped=flipping
