1 WELCOME TO 2 ND GRADE! Ms. Ballard Math and Science

2 ALL ABOUT ME I love MATH and SCIENCE! I have been a teacher for 17 years. I have 4 cats inside and 2 cats outside. Garfield is my hero. I have a hard time learning names. Please be patient with me.

3 CLASSROOM RULES

5 When the teacher speaks. When someone is on intercom. When group members talk. When other classmates talk.

6 All teachers! All staff! In the classroom. In the hall. In the lunchroom.In the gym. EVERYWHERE!

7  Work quietly – do not disturb people around you.  Use a quiet voice when working with a partner or in a group.  Do not talk in the hallway, we do not want to disrupt or distract another class that is working.

8  Treat others the way you want to be treated.  Say nice things.  Think before you speak – do not hurt other peoples feelings.  Keep hands and feet to yourself.  Do not bother other people stuff.

9  Stay FOCUSED!  Complete your work when assigned.  Don’t waste time.  You will have to finish your work, might as well do it when it is assigned.

10 Bring your backpack and binder everyday. Turn in homework on time.

11 CLASSROOM PROCEDURES Getting up out of your seat – you stay in your seat unless given permission. If you need a Kleenex, you may get up without asking. Pencils are in your caddies. Crayons have your number of your desk – they belong to the desk not you. Classroom discussions – raise your hand, wait to be called on. Lining up – line order - line up in a straight line without talking. SmartBoard – we will learn as we use it. One to two people will use at a time, the others will wait in line in front of the board.

12 OUT OF THE ROOM PROCEDURES Bathroom Break A block away from the wall, a block in between. No talking in line or in the bathroom. Bathroom monitors will switch out weekly – they are to go to the bathroom first, then stand under the sign to make sure no one is playing. EVERYONE MUST TRY!! EVERYONE MUST TRY!! 13 OUT OF THE ROOM PROCEDURES Hallway Line order most of the time. Stay in a straight and quiet line. Stay up with the class. I can see you at all times! There is NO talking in the hallways. We do not want to disturb other classrooms!Lunchroom Stay in your seat. Use a quiet voice. Use Manners!

14 SCHEDULE  8:05 – Class Starts!! Please be in my room by 8:05. Attendance and Pledge  8:20 – We switch classes for your morning class.  10:45 – We switch back to your homeroom for your afternoon class.  Lunch: 11:40 Ms. Ballard’s Homeroom 11:45 Ms. Richardson’s Homeroom  12:55 Specials  2:50 Accelerated Reading time  3:20 Dismissal for Pick-Ups and first bus group DreamBox on Mondays Lexia on Thursdays

20 HOMEWORK Math homework is assigned on Monday and is due on Friday. Homework is listed on Newsletters. Keep in binder when finished so it does not get lost!! If math homework is lost: Check webpage to see if a copy is there. Create your own math homework to turn in.

21 WHEN YOU ARE ABSENT….. It is very hard to make up missing work in math and science, because most of our work is hands on and interactive. Ask for any work you may have missed – complete and turn in. Try to be here everyday! We want to get the perfect attendance award each month!!
