33 Ballydonegan Strand The Allihies Mountain Mine is on the mountainside. Ore from the mines was taken down the creeks and rivers to the bay, where it was loaded on ships and taken abroad. The sand on the beach on Ballydonegan Bay supposedly came from crushed rock that was washed down the creeks from the mines. Mine
