4. Introducing Everyone The mediators as well as the students will tell each other their names before the mediation starts.

5. Setting the Rules Be willing to solve the problem Be truthful Be willing to listen to each other Be respectful-don’t commit FOULS Be willing to do what you agree to do

6. Mediating the Conflict Ask each person what happened and how it made him/her feel Paraphrase what each person says Summarize their perceptions of the conflict Ask each person what he/she can do to resolve the conflict Ask them to agree upon a solution and do it Ask each person what he/she could do differently in the future

7. Closing the Mediation Thank each person for working to resolve the conflict Remind them that everything said during mediation is private Ask them to tell their friends the conflict is resolved
