And he wrote poems. Most of them are about nature. He wrote of cold, snowy nights and warm spring days. He wrote of his work on the farm. most 是數量詞,後接名詞或接 of NP Most of the money came from my parents. We were at home most of the weekend.

In the poem “Gathering Leaves,” Frost tells about cleaning up fallen leaves in fall. The poem starts:

Spades take up leaves No better than spoons, no better than = just the same as = just as badas 簡直是;與 … 無異 He is no better than a born loser. Your excuse is no better than a lie. Spades take up leaves/No better than spoons.... →Spades which take up leaves are no better than spoons.... →Just like spoons, spades take up leaves....

And bags full of leaves Are light as balloons. And bags full of leaves/Are light as balloons. →And bags (which are) full of leaves are as light as balloons. →And leaf-filled bags are the weight of balloons. as...as 像 … 一樣 本行詩則因為音韻的關係而省略第一 個 as 。

I make a great noise/ Of rustling all day /Like rabbit and deer/ Running away. →I make a great rustling noise all day, which is like rabbit and deer running away. no better than, as...as, like NP ,都是「明 喻」的用法。 為了配合詩行的音韻, rabbit, deer 兩個字 皆取單數形式,這是一種 poetic license ( 詩 的破格 ) 。
