Make-up History Both men and women wore make-up – MEN it showed rank and class – WOMEN primarily for beauty – Eventually men stopped wearing make-up – Women stopped wearing make-up because it was associated with prostitution and low-life people. The make-up industry had a hard time convincing women to wear make-up again because of this.

THEATRE MAKE-UP HISTORY Greeks used theatre makeup when they performed long ago. The first actor Thespis used it to distinguish himself from the Greek chorus.
