1. Juhannus: in celebration of summer

2. Finnish holiday Juhannus is selebrated in june. It is a national holiday and popular time to have family reunions, weddings and christenings. That´s why it is one of the best times to visit Finland. The Finnish flag is also cleaned and pressed, so that it can fly gloriously bright against the azure skies all through the nightless night.

3. Kokko Kokko is a huge bonfire. Old boats and cast lumber are used to built the kokko. There is always water nearby in any town in Finland, a lake, a pond, a river, a stream. Kokko is built in near water. Children especially rejoice in the prospects of watching the kokko burn late into the night at the appointed hour. People play, dance and drink around the kokko. Close to midnight, the darkest hour of the night, which in most places is not dark at all, the kokko is set on fire.

5. Midsummer spells There are many midsummer spells. They are mostly connected to love and future. Here are some Finnish spells; you have to pick up nine flowers in the field and put them under your pillow, so your fiancé will show in your dream. One story tells that you have to put a copper coin under your pillow. Next day, when you go for a walk the first man who you meet is your future husband.
