2. Introduction  The Awards Scheme is designed to develop Member in the aspects reflected by the ideals of the Brigade. The wards offered by the Brigade and in individual companies give the Members an opportunity to grow in the four aspects of development – Spiritual, Physical, Educational and Social.  The awards scheme in the Brigade helps assist individual companies companies to provide exciting and challenging programmes to its members. As a member, it is strongly recommended that you take the challenge of attaining these badges and work towards the President’s and Fuonder’s Awards, something that should be the aspiration of every Member of the Brigade.

3. Courses of instructionCourses of instruction  There is no minimum number of hours or minimum classes in order to complete and award but these general principles should apply.  Members who fail a certain award must complete or re- sit for that particular award/level in the same year.  Award achievement records must be recorded in the BB Handbook. Certificates of achievements should also be safety kept, as the Member would be required to present these records when applying for the President’s Award and Founder’s Award.  A recruit must attend the Target Award class and pass the test in order to sit for any other awards.

4. Applications for AwardsApplications for Awards  In applying for proficiency awards, Company Captain will give the information requested on the official application forms and will certify that the conditions for each award have been fulfilled.  A special application form available from the BBM website (http://www.bbmalaysia.org)http://www.bbmalaysia.org  It is strongly advised that a member should hand in the application form to Company Captain before the National EXCO meeting to be held.

5. Wearing of AwardsWearing of Awards  Service Awards The One-Year Service Badge will be worn in a line on the left arm, below all other badges together with the Junior Section Service Badge as the first in the line. Long-Years Service Badge, the NCO proficiency star and three-Years Service Badge, will be worn in a line above the one-Year Service, below the Special Awards. The Link Badge is to be worn on the left breast slightly above the name tag.  Target Badge and Proficiency Awards Proficiency Awards will be worn on the right arm with the Target Badge as the first of the first row. The remainder are to be in alphabetical order of not more that five badges in a row (left to right). A badge is presented upon the completion of the Basic level and a red cloth backing at Advanced level.  Special Awards The Founder’s Badge and President’s Badge will be worn on the left arm above one another respectively, above the Long Year Service and Three Year Service, NCO Proficiency Star and Scholastics badge(s) if these are worn. The Junior Gold Award will be worn in line with the President’s Badge

6.  Private and unauthorized badges or buttons are not to be worn on parade. Official BB decorations are not to be worn in private life, except the Buttonhole Badge, which is primarily provided for that purpose. The Buttonhole Badge is not to be worn when the Member is in uniform. Medals(other that Cross for Heroism)will be worn on the left breast.

7. Left Arm - Service awards, Scholastics awards and special awards should be worn from bottom to top respectively on left arm. Right Arm - Proficiency badges(left to right) in alphabetical order (except Target badge), on the NCO’s Chevron. - You are advised to put 5 in a row.

8. Private’s right arm - A private chevron is advised to be worn as above.

10. Service AwardsService Awards Link Badge - awarded to a Member upon his or her promotion to the Senior Section from the Junior Section. The member must have completed at least one year in the Junior Section. Junior Section Service Badge - awarded to a Member who have completed at least 3 years of service in the Junior Section. Senior Section One Year Service Badge - awarded to a Member who have served for a session / after one year. Most importantly, members need to excel in his or her attendance at parades (80% + ) Senior Section Three Year Service Badge - awarded to a Member who have served for three years with good conduct. This badge may be awarded and can only be worn after the third session. Senior Section Long Year Service Badge - awarded to a Member who have served for five years with good conduct. This badge may be awarded and can only be worn after the fifth session.

11. Special AwardsSpecial Awards Scholastic Awards Bronze (UPSR), Silver (PMR), Gold (SPM) - awarded to a Member who obtain a good result in their studies during their service in BB. NCO Proficiency Star - awarded to a Member who passed the Advanced NCO Training School. - the training school will be held yearly in State. Junior Section Gold Award - awarded to a Member who obtain all the 6 awards in Junior Section. -the respective members are need to submit a Application Form to the BBHQ.

12. Brigade 2 nd Highest Award President’s Award - The applicant must be 15 years and above and be recommended by the Company Captain - Must be an NCO in the Company - Must satisfy the minimum awards required as follows : 1. NCO’s Proficiency Star (Advanced level) 2. Christian Education (Advanced level) 3. Drill (Advanced level) 4.Recruitment (Basic level) 5. At least three years of service in the Senior Section 6. At least six(6) awards from group A,B,C,D with at least one(1) award from each group with the minimum level being two(2) at Basic Level and four(4) at Advanced Level.

13. Brigade Highest Award President’s Award - Must be a President’s Award holder. - It is advised to apply the Founder’s Award after awarded the President’s Award. - The applicant need show knowledge and understanding of BB at Brigade and International level. - Undertake a research project and write a report of at least 3000 words. The subject is to be determined by the Brigade Awards Chairman or the Brigade Secretary. - Carry out 40 hours of practical service for others outside the Company. - Attend the Founder’s Award Conference and/or interview.
