Vincent Van Gogh 30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) was a major Post-Impressionist Dutch painter whose work—notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty, and bold color—had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. After years of painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness,[1][2] he died aged 37 from a gunshot wound, generally accepted to be self-inflicted (although no gun was ever found)

Wheat Field with Crows It is commonly stated that this was van Gogh's last painting. However, art historians are uncertain as to which painting was van Gogh's last, as no clear historical records exist. The evidence of his letters suggests that Wheatfield with Crows was completed around 10 July and predates such paintings as Auvers Town Hall on 14 July 1890 and Daubigny's Garden. Wheat Field with Crows, made on a double-square canvas, depicts a dramatic, cloudy sky filled with crows over a wheat field.

The Starry Night Painted in June, 1889, it depicts the view from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an idealized village. It is regarded as among Van Gogh's finest works, and one of the most recognized monuments in the history of Western culture. In the aftermath of the 23 December 1888 breakdown that resulted in the self- mutilation of his left ear, Van Gogh voluntarily admitted himself to the Saint- Paul-de-Mausole lunatic asylum on 8 May 1889.

The Potato The Potato is an oil painting by Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh painted in April 1885 in Nuenen, Netherlands. It is in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. In 1885 van Gogh made several versions of The Potato Eaters. During March and the beginning of April 1885 he sketched studies for the painting, and corresponded with his brother Theo, who was not impressed with his current work or the sketches Van Gogh sent him in Paris. He worked on the painting from April 13 until the beginning of May.

Portrait of Père Tanguy Portrait of Père Tanguy, painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1887, is one of his three paintings of Julien Tanguy. The three works demonstrate a progression in Van Gogh's artistic style after his arrival in Paris. The first is somber, and formed from a simple composition. The second introduces Van Gogh's Japanese prints. The last and most advanced in style, skill and color integrates Japanese, Impressionist, and other influences on the Parisian artist community. This painting conveys a sense of serenity that Van Gogh seeks for himself. This last painting of Tanguy is in the Musée Rodin, Paris.

Reflection I believe that Vincent van Gogh is one of the greatest artist to ever live. He's right up there with Da Vinci. In opinion he deserves more credit for furthering the artistry of painting. Van Gogh accomplished lots of things during his life minus the personal problems. His talent is un parallel. There will never be another Vincent van Gogh. Every single one of his painting.
