SAT’S January 24 th SAT Deadline to register is December 29 th If you qualify, please see your academic advisor for a fee waiver before break This is the last SAT that many colleges will accept Register and study at collegeboard.com

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS Complete your college applications Many applications for fall 2015 admission are due in January Colleges with free applications in PA DE MD and NJ can be found on GlasgowHS.org in the news section Winter break is a great time to complete all applications Apply to 6 colleges 2 safety schools 2 target schools 2 reach schools

FINANCIAL AID Financial Aid applications for the 2015-16 school year open up on January 1 st, 2015. FAFSA.ed.gov Create an account Include parents/guardians

“LET’S APPLY PARTY” What: Glasgow High School will be hosting a “Let’s Apply Party” When: Tuesday January 13 th, 2015 after midterms at 11am until 1pm. (Students must have transportation home) This is a great opportunity for students to: seniors can apply to colleges seniors can apply for scholarships juniors/seniors can apply for volunteer hours juniors/seniors can apply for a job juniors/seniors can learn about colleges juniors can learn about scholarships for next year juniors can select the ten colleges that most interest them and anything else that applies

TEXTING CAMPAIGN Texting Campaign · Help spread the word! All seniors and their parents can sign up to receive text messages from the DOE Higher Education Office to help support the college application and transition to college process. There are over 4,000 seniors signed up so far! · To sign up: Students (seniors): text Student to 302-262-8866 Parents: text Parent to 302-266-2525 School/District/Community: text Counselor to 302-246-5999 · Recent research has demonstrated that text messaging is an efficient and effective strategy for mitigating the summer melt challenges that face students after graduation · 2-3 text messages per month will be sent between January and August 2015 · Topics will include FAFSA completion, applying for scholarships, making a well- informed college decision, and navigating the college transition process
