Kansas is in the Great Plains

Farmland There are many farms in Kansas.

Food A lot of food is grown in Kansas. Corn and soybeans are important crops.

Animals There are many farms animals: cows, chickens, sheep and pigs.

Rivers Kansas has two large rivers: the Arkansas River and the Missouri River.

Land There are many grasslands (plains) in Kansas. There are few forests in Kansa

Precipitation – rain and snow Kansas gets about 28 inches of precipitation each year.

Kansas has four seasons: winter, spring, summer, fall

Cities There are no big cities in Kansas. Topeka is the capital city. Wichita is the largest city.

Factories Kansas has a few factories There are some factories that make plane parts.

Transportation There is not much public transportation in Kansas. Most people drive cars. The cities of Topeka and Wichita do not have much public transportation.

Unions Kansas does not have many unions. Red states have few unions, blue states have many unions.

Election Kansas voted for Romney in the 2012 election.
