Chalk Boards vs. Projectors Chalk Boards Framed with wood to keep from breaking, and marked on with shards of slate Used in the 19 th century to save paper In the 1990s potential health risks posed by chalk dust prompted the replacement of many blackboards with whiteboards Projectors Projectors began to be widely used in schools in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Teaching materials can be preprinted on transparencies, which can be written on and reused. Today projectors are slowly being replaced by computer projection systems, interactive whiteboards, etc. due to technology advancement in society.

Costs – Electronic devices are higher in cost than paper and pencil, but not in the long run – This article points out the security, and ease of access with electronic file storage. This information was found on this website:article Palm Pilots – The Palm Pilot is lightweight, and has many functions that can be used in the classroom – the average K-12 student will save two trees a year by doing their homework on a Palm Pilot.
