Types of Resumes Chronological Resume – sequence of events in time showing jobs held from most recent to least recent Experiential or Functional Resume – lists the experiences relevant to the job related to a possible interview Combination – Elements of both the Chronological and Skills Resumes are included (Experiential Resume required by Broward)

Resume Basics First Impression – use appropriate format, spacing, aesthetically pleasing Align to the CURRENT Florida Principal Leadership Standards (as of 2011) - be sure it is in the right place! Look at the BASA long form rubrics Honesty Is The Best Policy Make Every Word Count Limit use of Professional Jargon and Acronyms – write as if the reader does not know your job

Use Current Terms And Initiatives AMO, College and Career Readiness, I-Observation, Marzano, etc…. Include Data, Data, Data!!! – tie your role to the results/impact when possible Highlight who it impacted – a grade level, department, schoolwide, etc. Your school data cannot stand alone – what did you do?

Use A Variety of Strong Verbs (Initiated, Organized, Analyzed, Created, Prioritized, etc) Have Someone Review Before Submitting Spelling Consistent Font Style and Size Grammar Spacing Verb tense Omitted words Ease of Understanding In appropriate standard area Linked to results
