2. o Each year, HUD requires each jurisdiction to count its housing inventory on the same night as the Point-In-Time (PIT) count. o This year, these counts will take place on the night of January 22 nd. o Housing inventory must be accurate and reflect entire system of beds and units available. What is the HIC?

3. o Any project with beds/units dedicated to serving homeless persons, or for permanent housing projects, dedicated for persons who were homeless at Entry. o Completed for all homeless-dedicated beds projects, regardless of funding source. o HUD Program Types: o Emergency Shelter (ES) o Safe Haven (SH) o Transitional Housing (TH) o Rapid Re-housing (RRH) o Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Who completes the HIC?

4. o For the first time, we will be collecting and entering HIC information into HMIS. o HUD strongly encourages the use of HMIS when generating the HIC. Some information we already have and some we will be gathering and entering. o Will improve our reporting abilities. How does it relate to HMIS?

7. o Numbers must accurately reflect beds and units currently available on the night of the count. o Total Bed and Units o Chronic Homeless Bed Inventory* o Veteran Bed Inventory* o Youth Bed Inventory* *Subcategory beds must be dedicated to serve those populations! Current Inventory

8. o Beds and Units by Household Type o Households without Children o Households with at least 1 adult and 1 child o Households with only Children o Unoccupied Beds/Units o Household types these beds could have housed. Current Inventory

9. o How many beds participate? o “participate” means that reasonable efforts are made to enter all UDE’s for clients in that bed. o Provider Name in HMIS o Provider ID Number o HMIS Participation Start Date o Date on which a change in number of beds participating last occurred. HMIS Participation

10. o Target Populations o Single Males, Single Males and Females, Households with children, etc. o Sub-target Populations o DV: Domestic Violence o HIV: Persons with HIV/AIDS o CHI: Chronic Homeless Individuals o SA: Substance Abuse o DD: Dual Diagnoses o ExO: Ex-Offenders o YP: Pregnant or Parenting Youth o ONLY IF AT LEAST 75% OF CLIENTS SERVED FIT THE DESCRIPTOR! Populations Served

11. o Estimates based on your experience: o Percentage of clients whose homelessness could be resolved through each program type. o Example: We think 25% of our clients in ES program would have their homelessness resolved through Emergency Shelter, and 50% through Transitional Housing, and 25% through Permanent Supportive Housing. o It is assumed PSH/RRH clients would not benefit from ES, TH, or SH, so these questions would not be applicable. Unmet Need

12. o New format: Google Forms! o Review questions on PDF prior to entering the form. You will not be able to save answers until you submit. Must have answers prepared and ready to complete. o Counts should reflect inventory on night of January 22 nd.
