2 Oregon HIDTA ISC Chris Gibson, Oregon HIDTA Director Return to Marion main page 2013 County Summary Summary Between 2006 to 2013, arrests in Marion County declined for cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana, while heroin arrests rose during the same period. In 2012, the most recent data available, total drug-related deaths in the county rose to 10 each for heroin and methamphetamine, while only one death was related to cocaine use. Admissions for treatment of marijuana was highest in the county in 2012, followed by methamphetamine, heroin, controlled prescription drugs, and cocaine. The number of indoor plants reported seized in Marion County rose from four plants in 2012 to 248 plants seized in 2013. No outdoor marijuana plants were reported seized in the county in 2013. Total medical marijuana cardholders in the county in October 2013 (2,979) was more than seven times the number reported in April 2006 (418). Admissions for controlled prescription drugs increased by more than 300 percent between 2004 and 2012, while marijuana/hashish increased by one-third during the same period. Declines were reported for heroin (-5%), methamphetamine (-36%), and cocaine (-62%) from 2004 through 2012. Return to treatment page

Treatment Admissions - Per Capita The number of treatment admissions for major illicit drugs in Marion County was lower per capita when compared to Multnomah, Jackson, Umatilla and Jefferson counties from 2006 to 2012. Methamphetamine-related fatalities reached a high of 13 in the county in 2008 then dropped to ten (10) in 2012. Cocaine-related deaths decreased from a high of four (4) in 2006 to one in 2012.
