In 2012, the most recent data available, total drug-related deaths in the county rose to 10 each for heroin and methamphetamine, while only one death was related to cocaine use. Admissions for treatment of marijuana was highest in the county in 2012, followed by methamphetamine, heroin, controlled prescription drugs, and cocaine. The number of indoor plants reported seized in Marion County rose from four plants in 2012 to 248 plants seized in 2013. No outdoor marijuana plants were reported seized in the county in 2013. Total medical marijuana cardholders in the county in October 2013 (2,979) was more than seven times the number reported in April 2006 (418). Admissions for controlled prescription drugs increased by more than 300 percent between 2004 and 2012, while marijuana/hashish increased by one-third during the same period.
