2. A hot-air balloon is the oldest successful human carrying flight technology and is a subset of the balloon aircraft. The general idea behind one is to fill it with hot air and since hot air rises, enough of it can raise a balloon and carry people.

3. Raising the air temperature inside the envelope of the balloon makes it lighter than the surrounding air and thus floats. It is similar to “Buoyancy” which is making heavy objects float in water.

5. Modern hot air balloons are usually made of light-weight and strong synthetic fabrics such as rip stop nylon. The top of the balloon usually has a vent of some sort. This enables the pilot to release hot air to slow an ascent, start a descent, or increase the rate of descent, usually for landing.

6. Baskets are commonly made of woven wicker. These materials have proven to be sufficiently light, strong, and durable for balloon flight. Such baskets are usually rectangular in shape. They vary in size from just big enough for two people to large enough to carry thirty

7. The burner unit gasifies liquid propane, mixes it with air, ignites the mixture, and directs the flame and exhaust into the mouth of the envelope. The pilot actuates a burner by opening a propane valve, called a blast valve

11. Laying out some tissue paper that will be glued in 3’s to make a side to our balloon. We will use a template made out of construction paper to cut out the tissue paper.

12. Cutting paper to fit the measurements to make the template. After that we made sides to our balloon.

13. Using a marker to take measurements We will then make a template.
