3 3 Southern Regional Educational Board The Southern Regional Education Board works with those who are seeking to improve education from prekindergarten through graduate programs. SREB’s programs and services can be described in four categories: compiles and disseminates information provided by states; coordination of shared state resources; demonstration programs – leading by example; and SREB-sponsored meetings.

4 4 Program Goal and Objectives GOAL To increase the number of minorities who earn Ph.D.s and who seek to become faculty members PROGRAM OBJECTIVES Long term state and university participation Comprehensive package of support Effective teaching, mentoring, research Collaborate with other state, regional, and national programs Evaluate practices and disseminate results

7 7 Doctoral Scholars Award Five years support Tuition and fee waiver (In and Out-of-State) Three years support--$ 15,000/yr Two-years of institutional support (TA/RA, Fellowship, etc.) Annual Institute on Teaching and Mentoring Regional Program services
