Alignment Process: Team was assembled to review legislation and align it to SADC agreements Have started the review status Following gaps identified in national legislation in comparison to SADC agreements – Planned to repeal and replace the plant variety and seeds act – Review the SI for seeds act – For Phytosanitary issues, we will review the SI only Work is progressing well and we target complete the review process by mid November 2012

3. ZERO drafts are ready and we currently consulting with stakeholders We have put up a work plan to complete the review by Mid November (ready for bill to go through normal process) Zambia looked at the harmonization of seeds policies as key to enhanced seed market and increased availability of seed of improved varieties We therefore as a country committed to the process (Evidence –MOU signed)
