15 Publication Practices In general, no formal blind peer-review process for most Chinese LIS journals, but usually reviewed by Editor or Editorial Boards; Commonly, page charge for many journals from RMB 500- 2,000; Mixed mode for manuscript submission - electronic and hard copy submission; Transfer the copyright to the journal publisher when authors submit manuscript, unless the authors declare that they want to hold the copyright. Remuneration may be paid to authors.

16 Copyright Law in China (Article 32) 30 days after submission, authors may submit the same paper to other journal publishers if no response received from journal editors, unless the two parties have agreed otherwise; Except where an author has declared that reprinting or excerpting is not permitted, other journal publishers may, after the publication of the work by a journal, reprint the work or print an abstract of it or print it as reference material, but such other publishers shall pay remuneration to the author as prescribed in regulations. ) China copyright law in 2001

17 Business Module Most journals belong to professional societies, governmental organizations, and scientific research institutes / universities; Most of the journals have a formal editorial board in charge of the manuscript submissions, journal publication and subscription promotions. The majority Editorial Boards consists of 3-8 full time paid staff; Most publication fees come from direct fund allocations from governments, publication subscriptions, page charges, advertisement fees, and donations from various organizations; Heavily rely on the income based operations through the publications of supplementary and special issues.

18 Funding Sources Data as in 2004 Liu, P.Y. and Zhao X. (2004), “On the management patterns of Chinese library and information science journals”, Library and Information Service, Vol.48, No.11, pp14-8. advertisement publication subscriptions government fundingsupplementary issues page charges
