Purpose: To determine the volume of sand.

Materials: (2)Grad Cylinder 5-10mL of dry sand 5-10mL of water beaker

Procedure: 1. Measure 10-20 mL of dry sand in a 50mL grad. cylind. Record the volume. Leave sand in the grad. cylind. (Have dry sand in a bucket or pan with two- three beakers to make it easier for the student to obtain the sand) 2. Obtain 10-20 mL of water in a separate grad. cylind. Record the volume. 3. Pour the water into the grad cylin containing the sand. Record the volume
