FOURMILE CANYON FIRE A Mapping Study

Purpose A simple map of the progress of the fire by mapping of perimeter data. Map the locations of destroyed houses. Values of the destroyed homes. Theoretical response time of firefighters to the area.

Further Study Mapping locations of all structures in the area along with their values. Determining actual structural value destroyed. Analysis of intact structure values.

What Did We Learn What Was Surprising. Inadequacies of the publicly available data. Better data available, but for a price. What Was Challenging. Editing the data to the point where it would be useful. An interesting exercise in how real-world data often needs to be manipulated.
